In February 2014, the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) released the Framework for Improving Critical Infrastructure Cybersecurity. The Framework provides guidance, based upon existing standards, for establishing a cyber security program. Intended to be customized based upon the size of an organization, the Framework is a useful resource for ensuring that an organization’s data security protocols are in line with current practices.

DATA BREACH RESOURCES
The New Jersey Cybersecurity and Communications Integration Cell (NJCCIC) was formed in May 2015 by Executive Order of Governor Christie. NJ CyberSecurity’s website provides information and resources for businesses on data breaches and data security issues.
The Cyber Crime Unit’s website provides information about the New Jersey State Police Cyber Crimes Unit. In addition, it provides contact information in the event a business needs to report a security breach pursuant to New Jersey’s Data Breach Notification Law.
